Throughout the school year we hold many prayerful liturgies. In September we celebrate our Opening of the School Year mass which welcomes our new First Year students to the school as well as all teachers, staff and students for another school year. During November we remember our deceased loved ones and friends which quickly leads into Advent when we prepare for the birth of Christ with class prayers. Before Christmas exams we gather for a Christmas Carol Service in the College Chapel.
A whole school liturgy is celebrated every year for the feast of St Kieran in St Mary’s Cathedral. Lenten preparations consist of reflections and prayers for all classes and the end of the school year is marked by the celebration of mass for all students with special prayers for those sitting exams. The final school activity for every Leaving Cert student is to attend the Graduation Mass at the very end of the school year when we bid farewell to our Leaving Certs and pray for a safe, healthy and successful future for all.
Our liturgies are an integral part of life in St Kieran’s College as it is through our liturgical prayer that we get the opportunity to express our faith and celebrate the important events and moments in our lives together.
