Once again St Kieran’s College plays host to the now annual diocesan U8 Hurling and Camogie Blitz.
Every year St Kieran’s College plays host to the Diocesan U8 hurling blitz. This event, which sees clubs from around the diocese and therefore not just the county of Kilkenny, is now a stable part of the annual club fixtures. It is, in fact, often the very first time that many of those playing will get to wear their club colours in a “competitive” game.
To accommodate all the teams who want to take part, the day sees the Northern Clubs and the Camogie teams compete in the morning and the Southern Clubs in the afternoon. The matches are played in accordance with the Go-Games rules and this ensures that all levels of experience get an opportunity to shine. All the referees are Transition Year students from the College and they keep a watchful eye on proceeding. As is usual many of the Kilkenny senior hurling team drop by to present medals throughout the day, as will Brian Cody and Angela Downey to oversee some of the young talent on display.
This year the launch of the Diocesan preparation for the World Meeting of Families 2018 will also take place in the College on May 7th – so the College will be a busy place. We look forward to welcoming all into our grounds.
