Golf is one of the many sports pursued at a competitive level in St Kieran’s. Mr Bernie Clarke first introduced the game to pupils in the nineteen seventies. Being a talented golfer himself, he was eager to share his passion for the game with his students. Many successes were recorded in the regional match play leagues. Ms. Eilish Ahern is currently responsible for co-ordinating golfing activities in the school. Teams compete in the local league as well as in provincial qualifying competitions. Golf also features in St Kieran’s Day celebrations.

The provincial branches of the golfing union of Ireland organise annual competitions for both junior and senior school teams. The best young golfers in the country compete for honours with a very high standard of play being the norm. A first Leinster Title was achieved by our players in 2017 defeating Malahide in the final. Michael O’Shaugnessy, Shane Whelan, James Everard, Ned Kirwan, Patrick O’Shea and Sean Minogue were members of the successful team.

We continue to attract talented players and look forward to many successful outings in the future.
